Chapter One - Dollong*

"Twice as Worthy" - a semi-autofiction following a boy named after a vegetable; Potol finds his self-worth in objects.

After the earthquake of 1950 in Assam, Potol is in a predicament and cannot seem to find anybody in his now-empty town. Adrift, he meets different characters and creatures on the way, trying to balance his fears, identity, masculinity and sometimes the fluidity of being.

As they walk through caves and forests, over rivers, and tread through water, Potol asks if a wrinkle in time and an aberration in space can sometimes become a geological feature.

Familiarizing the reader through gossip and urban legends the narative deals with the active militarization of the region and how it has functioned as an enclave economy for most of history. Potol, while charting their own way, comes to terms with how the isolation he feels within, and the isolation of the land, are both manufactured.
